Virgin Voyages Changes MNVV Program: What Sailors Need to Know (August 2026)

Virgin Voyages Just Changed the MNVV Program – Here's What You Need to Know
As many of you know, we've seen many changes to the My Next Virgin Voyages (MNVV) program over the years, and we've got another big change to discuss. This morning, Virgin Voyages sent an update to First Mates detailing two significant changes to the MNVV program. One is a win for Sailors, and the other closes a door that a some people didn't even realize was open.
What is an MNVV?
My Next Virgin Voyages is a promotion available for Sailors who are onboard. For a small "pre-deposit" (currently $150), you can secure a discount and additional onboard credit on a future sailing. Currently, those bonuses are as follows:
4-5 night Voyages: | 6-8 night Voyages: | Voyages 9+ nights: |

The Good News: A Better Booking/Sailing Window Is Coming
Starting Fall 2026, MNVVs will no longer carry the old 2-year sailing window restriction. Instead, Sailors get a 1-year booking window (no sailing window) with unlimited voyage date changes within that first year.
If you've ever bought an MNVV onboard with the best intentions, only to watch that 2-year clock run out while life got in the way, this fixes that specific headache. You'll have more flexibility to actually use what you bought.
The Bigger Change: No More Name Changes
As of today, name changes are no longer permitted on any new MNVV purchases. Going forward, an MNVV has to stay with the Sailor who originally purchased it.
Here's why this one matters more than it might sound. In practice, a fair number of Sailors bought MNVVs with the plan (or at least the option) of transferring them down the road – gifting one to a family member, or working with a First Mate who could apply it to a different name entirely. That flexibility is gone for any MNVV purchased from here forward. If part of the appeal of an MNVV for you was that flexibility, that's a shift, and it's worth factoring in before your next purchase.
What's Staying the Same
Virgin Voyages was clear that a few things aren't changing:
Sailors can still purchase up to four MNVV offers while onboard
Your First Mate (me!) stays linked to the booking all the way through conversion
Fare changes on MNVV bookings follow the standard fare policy
Cancelling an MNVV still forfeits the promotional benefit, so if you're on the fence, reach out before you cancel
What This Means for You
If you already have an MNVV on the books, you're grandfathered in – your reservation keeps its original terms, and none of this changes how it works for you. This affects new purchases from here forward.
If you're planning to buy one on an upcoming sailing, or you've been holding onto the idea of transferring one to someone else eventually, this is the moment to talk it through before you commit. I can walk you through exactly how your specific scenario is affected and what the smartest move is from here. Use the Get In Touch button below to find time with me!
