Gratuities on Virgin Voyages: What You Need to Know

In all my sailings on many cruise lines, I can honestly say that the crew on Virgin Voyages is by far the best at sea. They are truly Virgin's "secret sauce," and are a huge part of what keeps me going back for more. As of October 7, 2025, gratuities (how we show our love for the crew) on Virgin Voyages sailings are a separate line item from the total cruise fare, offering you transparency and choice in how to pay.

Gratuities

The price of gratuities is shown separately from the total fare. You can choose to pre-pay that amount, or take care of it onboard.

• Pre-pay

  • $20 per person / per day added to your cruise fare

  • Paid up to 48 hours prior to sailing

• Added to Onboard Account

  • $22 per person / per day charged to your card on file when you disembark

***IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT GRATUITIES!***

Keep in mind - keeping gratuities separate doesn't change anything about the Virgin Voyages onboard experience. Unlike other cruise lines, there are no tip slips, signing receipts, or suspiciously cash-shaped envelopes dropped in a prominent place in your cabin on the last day.
